John Duval is a legendary name. As only the third winemaker to be entrusted with the making of Australia’s most famous wine, Grange, John worked for Penfolds for 28 years (including 16 years as chief winemaker) until his departure in 2002. He set out on his own with the 2003 vintage, sourcing fruit from some long-time friends in the Barossa.
Shiraz fruit was sourced from some of the oldest vineyards in the Krondorf, Tanunda, Light Pass and Eden Valley regions of the north and east Barossa. With vines aged between 50-100 years old, he had a wealth of quality fruit to choose from.
In true Barossa style, the John Duval Entity Shiraz balances heavily concentrated fruits with elegance and winemaking finesse. The intensity, fine tannic structure and French oak influence make the Entity an exciting wine to taste now, whilst also displaying excellent cellaring potential.
