Wine legacy of family Legović dates back to 1937. Since then, 4 generations have changed in producing best Istrian wines on Istrian red soil (terra rosa) within their 12 ha of vineyards. In the western part of Istria, near picturesque Kaštelir one can find Mekiši, genuine traditional Istrian stantias which is the home of family Legović. Vineyards are placed at 220 – 250 m above sea level at red Istrian soil terra rosa which is rich in bauxite and iron. These components attribute to wines minerality. This essence of climate is truly transfused to Legovina wines.
Malvazija Istarska is the most planted Croatian indigenous grape variety and one of the most planted varieties in the Legović vinery. Besides the typical varietal aromas, Malvazija Istarska Fresca is infused with the characteristic mineral stamp and due to it, at blind tastings, it stands up to the best of the best wines in Istria. Aromas of green apple, lemongrass, and white flower are dominant on the nose. On the palate, you can taste the intense fruit. Malvazija Fresca is rounded and well-balanced wine with the lingering aftertaste.
