The Kopjar vinery shot up to the creme de la creme of Croatian wine scene. Vineyards, which were planted in 2005, are cultivated in line with eco-agriculture. The owner, Mr. Robert Kopjar, actively joined this project in 2012. The human touch is crucial in producing process, and the final result is the best quality grapes which procreate the finest terroir wines as a result.
Vineyards are located in the south and south-east exposition at 250-260 meters above the sea level. The vineyards and the winery are at the least end of Varaždinska county bordering with Krapinsko-Zagorska county, in a small village of Pece. Vineyards are mostly planted with white varieties. A green harvest is commonly used and wines are left on lees in inox or big oak barrels.
As a follower of vision of winemakers from South Tirol, Kopjar adopted these blend to local winemaking of white grape varieties. A creative blend where Sauvignon Blanc provides aromas of elder, linden and touch of herbs, Riesling provides structure, dry backbone and aromas of white flowers and green apples, and Sylvaner completes the whole combosition with aromas of paech, pear and honey. This is one of the few wines that pairs drinkability with serious performance.
