Vigneti del Salento is owned by the Farnese group and I Muri is their venture in Puglia. Winemaker Filippo Baccalaro is the driving force behind this label. Filippo, a native of Piemonte, has been working in Puglia for almost two decades. He was attracted by the rich, ripe flavours of the fruit, and the ability to capture these flavours with minimal use of technology and a lot of know-how.
Puglia is in the heel of Italy. It’s a hot and dry area but cooled by sea breezes. The I Muri vineyards are in the province of Taranto, mostly in the communes of Manduria and Sava. Production is lower than its potential, which ensures the best quality grapes are selected. The red soils are calcareous clay and rich in iron, minerals and nutrients. 80% of the grapes come from old bush vines that are at least 20 years old.
Straw yellow in colour with golden reflections. Lifted aromas of peaches and stone fruit with some citrus notes, which follow on to the palate. This wine is crisp with refreshing acidity. This middle weight and soft white wine consists of one third of the grape varieties Malvasia Bianca, Chardonnay and Bombino Bianco.Dodatne informacije (PDF)
