Since it’s founding by Giovanni Massolino in 1896 Massolino has produced some of Italy’s finest wines. Now Franco and Roberto Massolino carry on the family tradition with this beautiful Barbera d’Alba. This is in part dictated by the nature of the vineyards that the Massolino family owns in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba – the source of some of the greatest wines in the world.
This 23 hectare estate has been in the Massolino family since 1896. Grapes for this wine came from several vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba. The vines are approximately 10 to 45 years old. The plant density ranges from 5,000 to 6,000 vines per hectare depending on the vineyard. Soils are mixed but predominantly limestone.
Deep purple colour. On the nose, it is elegant with intense and red fruit notes typical of Barbera. On the palate, it is refreshing and well balanced with elegant tannins.
