The owner of the winery, Ivan, has cleared the land for the cultivation of organic growth of the grapes. His family cellar dates in 1835, and Ivan has preserved it as a family heritage. The production of the wines is based on the natural quality of the grapes and low intervention in the cellar so the process is organic using indigenous yeasts. This approach is used so the particular character of wines is based in terroir with the final result of original, sincere and 100% natural wines.
Family company Ivan Kosovec is located on the hills of Moslovačka highlands in Popovača where the family owns 3 ha of vineyards with approximately 19,000 vines in one of the most beautiful positions in Moslavina. The dominant variety is Škrlet, Chardonnay, Frankovka, Zweigelt, and Pinot Noir. The philosophy of wine-growing is based on eco principles and techniques based on hand-work and minimal use of mechanization, artificial compost, insecticides and herbicides.
Blaüfrankish is an Austrian vine widely planted in Germany (Lemberger), Hungary (Kékfrankos) and Croatia (Frankovka). The richness of the body with 12.5% alcohol is blended with harmony achieved in the vineyard. This wine has a balance between freshness and tannic components. It is produced with minimal intervention in the cellar which results in young Frankovka with the aromatic specter typical for the variety and the region. The fruitiness and earthy notes are the sign of the variety with aromas of rich fruits. On the palate is dynamic, lively and food-friendly.
