Wine legacy of family Legović dates back to 1937. Since then, 4 generations have changed in producing best Istrian wines on Istrian red soil (terra rosa) within their 12 ha of vineyards. Valter Legović and his son Marko are living examples of total dedication to enology and producing wines from world recognized wine varieties in most appreciated wine regions producing unique and specific products.
In the western part of Istria, near picturesque Kaštelir one can find Mekiši, genuine traditional Istrian stantias which is the home of family Legović. Vineyards are placed at 220 – 250 m above sea level at red Istrian soil terra rosa which is rich in bauxite and iron. These components attribute to wines minerality. This essence of climate is truly transfused to Legovina wines.
Micro-locations Brdo and Ćuki are the places of birth of this wild Teran which family Legović suppresses with 2 years aging in big oak barrels. It has a deep purple color. Aromas of dark fruit, lilac flower and fine tobacco with signature saltiness are dominating at the nose. At the palate, you can enjoy aromas of freshness, ripe tannins, and long aftertaste.
