Wine legacy of family Legović dates back to 1937. Since then, 4 generations have changed in producing best Istrian wines on Istrian red soil (terra rosa) within their 12 ha of vineyards. Valter Legović and his son Marko are living examples of total dedication to enology and producing wines from world recognized wine varieties in most appreciated wine regions producing unique and specific products.
In the western part of Istria, near picturesque Kaštelir one can find Mekiši, genuine traditional Istrian stantias which is the home of family Legović. Vineyards are placed at 220 – 250 m above sea level at red Istrian soil terra rosa which is rich in bauxite and iron. These components attribute to wines minerality. This essence of climate is truly transfused to Legovina wines.
As one can conclude from the wine name, Matura, the wine is well maturated. This Merlot is cultivated at the famous Njive nad Mekiši micro-locations. Its varietal softness is beautifully interpreted by Istrian characteristic soil terra rossa. It is aged in barriques for 2 years which gives black fruit, wild strawberry and touch of vanilla and cedar wood to the wine’s bouquet.
