Wine legacy of family Legović dates back in 1937 since then 4 generations of wine growers cultivated the 12 ha of vineyards in Istrian Terra Rosa soil. Their complete dedication to winemaking – the father Valter (former main enologist of Agrolaguna) and the son Marko, express by seeding the exquisite seedlings from the best of world regions providing the quality with no alternative.
WHERE?
Deep in Western Istria, not far away from picturesque town of Kaštelir, one can find Mekiši, the original old Istrian estate owned by family Legović. Vineyards are positioned on 220-250 meters above sea level with Istrian Terra Rossa soil, rich with bauxite and iron – this results as minerality in wine. The pure essence of terroir is poured into a glass of this wine.
WHY?
Mr. Valter reached for the Cabernet Franc seedlings to Chinon, French small town located in the valley of the river Loire – it symbolize the paradigm for this grape variety. Istrian soil terra rossa impacted on a vine and resulted in authentic, well-trained wine which is great value for money. Rich aromas of fruit (black cherry and black olive) tertiary notes (moss, humus, leather, and tobacco) and herbal touch and spiciness (green pepper, rosemary, and carob). On the palate, one can find juicy, earthy tannins and strong minerality which evolves in the long finish.
