This 23 hectare estate has been in the Massolino family since 1896. Since 1994 the style of the wines has undergone a subtle transformation. This is in part dictated by the nature of the vineyards that the Massolino family owns in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba – the source of some of the greatest, most structured, robust and long-lived Barolo wines.
Vigna Rionda Cru, one of the most iconic vineyards in Seralunga d’Alba and maybe even in the entire Barolo region. In early 60’s Massolino family were so impressed by Vigna Rionda that they exchanged their much larger vineyard for a plot within his famous Cru.
This is the biggest and boldest of the Massolino wines, packed with tannin and fruit but still keeps freshness and balance. The length is staggering. Stunning wine that will keep 20-25 years easily.
