WHO?
Nyetimber has established itself as a prestigious producer of English sparkling wines, crafting wines of global reputation that challenge (and often surpass in blind tastings) the great champagne houses. A true pioneer in its field, a house that sets paradigms, Nyetimber was also the first in England to introduce the ‘holy trinity’ of champagne varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir.
WHERE?
Nyetimber is located in the West Sussex county and exclusively uses grapes from its own vineyards. The key to their success lies in the south-facing vineyards resting on a combination of limestone and sand. Each vineyard is carefully selected to ensure ideal conditions for the slow ripening of grapes that will ultimately provide optimal levels of acidity, complexity, and aristocratic finesse for which Nyetimber is recognized.
WHY?
Only a few wineries in the world dare to challenge the famous Champagne, but that’s precisely what owner Eric Heerema (a Dutchman) and head winemaker Cherie Spriggs have done. Like a gentle sunset of pink hues. The aromas include a seductive amalgam of fresh red fruits and a discreet spicy touch. On the palate, creamy, rounded textures and outstanding balance underscored by red currants, raspberries, and cherries.
