WHO?
Charles Heidsieck is one of the most renowned champagnes in the world, created by one of the most famous winemaking teams in Champagne – winners of the prestigious title “Sparkling Winemaker of the Year” a remarkable 15 times. Established in 1851 by a man known as “Champagne Charlie,” who is famous for introducing champagne to America.
WHERE?
Charles Heidsieck utilizes the riches of fruits available throughout the Champagne region. Grapes are sourced from across the appellation, with key vineyards including Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant for Chardonnay, and Ambonnay and Verzenay for Pinot Noir.
WHY?
This blend of 48% Pinot Noir and 52% Chardonnay comprises 80% reserve wines aged up to 25 years. The remaining 20% of the blend is Pinot Noir from Aÿ, harvested in 2016. The wine was laid down in the cellars in 2017 and disgorged in October 2021, when a dosage liqueur of 7 grams was added.
