WHO?
Representing the current third generation of the Bosquets family, Julien Bréchet took over the estate founded by his grandfather. In 2009, he joined the project (his brother Laurent runs Château de Vaudieu in Chateauneuf-du-Pape) and with the assistance of globally acclaimed winemaker Philippe Cambie, quickly elevated the property into a leading star of the Gigondas appellation, located just 15 km from the world-renowned vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape.
WHERE?
Domaine des Bosquets is home to the first vines ever planted in Gigondas (1376 AD), currently owning 26 hectares of vineyards (up to 75 years old) located just below the Dentelles de Montmirail, impressive 350 meters high rocky formations visible from almost the entire Southern Rhone. Consequently, the wines possess freshness and balance as a result of higher elevation but also the typical southern character defined by ripe fruit.
WHY?
Gigondas is currently one of the most exciting appellations in France. Winemakers have finally managed to shake off the label of being a ‘mini Chateauneuf’ and have begun creating wines that can stand alongside the best Chateauneufs. They possess vineyards that are equally old, the soil is also of complex composition, while winemaking talent has never been in question. So why shouldn’t the wines be at least equally good? The Bréchet family is extremely serious in their approach, as evidenced by wines that have become a reference point.
